A good time of year for a reunion is usually late spring or early fall, when the weather is usually calm and not too hot or cold. First, have a couple of family members volunteer to contact family by email, phone or mail and then determine the interest of family members who are planning on attending the reunion. If you receive enough family members interested in attending the reunion, you should then establish a family reunion committee of members who are committed to putting the reunion together. It takes many people to make a reunion work. It is entirely too much for one person to take on by themselves. Also, with a committee you get a better idea and other views of what will and won't work with your family. To make things simple, delegate specific tasks to each committee member and ensure that not too much pressure is put on any one person.
In a family reunion, photos are a big part of it. You should have one or two people in a group take plenty of photos and then have the photos posted on a photo album online. You can also create your own family page where everyone will be on. Another option is you could hire a photographer for the day to take one big group shot.
Reunions can get very expensive so it will be a good idea to have someone open up a reunion account and be in charge of ensuring that the funds are properly placed and used for this event and the next.
