Your family reunion can be a great success with careful planning. If you create a timetable and checklists, you will be able to progress with minor problems and glitches. Planning ahead and having a checklist will save you much confusion at the end.
Set up a reunion committee comprised of the family that will be having the reunion. You will want individuals who are truly committed and family oriented. When you make your assignments to them, you want to know that your request for their assistance will be fulfilled. Next, along with your committee, create your guest list. This information should be easily obtained from previous reunion sign-in sheets. However, if this is the first family reunion then there will be some work involved.
A list of key relatives, along with their home address, phone numbers and email addresses needs to be obtained. Then contact each of them and request a list of family members with the same information that you requested from them. Submit to the family members a list of potential dates, locations, activities and cost. When you have secured your budget and activities, then select your location. The majority of families will have their family reunion close to home. If you have family from all over, you can do a rotation by city and state for each reunion.
Now you will plan the menu. You may have the food catered or select a group of family members to do the preparation to cut costs. Plan and confirm your social activities. Once these steps are taken, then you are ready to do a final invitation to guests. This should be done way in advance. Be sure to include deadlines for responses and any fees with the invitations.
